Martinsville, IN — Peggy Mayfield,
a small business owner and two-term Morgan
County elected official, announced
today her intention to file for the Republican nomination for Indiana’s House of Representative’s District
60. As a result of redistricting, House
District 60 will encompass parts of both Morgan and Monroe Counties.
A 30-year resident of Morgan County
and long time business owner of Mayfield Insurance, Inc. and Mayfield Real
Estate, LLC, Peggy understands the importance of fiscal responsibility,
education, and economic opportunity.
“The economy in Indiana is better than
most states but we need to continue Governor Mitch Daniels’ efforts to build a
climate that provides for economic expansion and job development. To build a strong economic foundation in Indiana, we need to grow
and expand our job base and realize we are competing not only with other states
but other countries for those jobs.
Morgan and Monroe
Counties are known for a
strong workforce and we can compete with anyone when given the opportunity.”
As second term Circuit Court Clerk of Morgan County,
Mayfield has served in several leadership capacities. She sits on the Executive Board of the
Association of Circuit Court Clerks of Indiana where she serves as chairman of
the legislative committee, working directly with State legislative
leaders. She also serves on the
legislative committee of the Association of Indiana Counties. Mayfield has already demonstrated her ability
to increase efficiencies in government when she implemented a consolidation of
polling locations and early satellite voting in Mooresville without increasing
costs.
