As County Clerk overseeing a $519,000 budget, Peggy reduced the need for election workers by 30%, and operated under budget every year. She returned over $133,000 tax dollars to the general fund while significantly increasing operation efficiency.
In the 2014 session Peggy co-sponsored SB292, which added protections for the health and safety of women. Peggy and her husband Dean have four sons, Chris, Andrew, Austin, and Michael. They are members of the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
Peggy Mayfield is a NRA Endowment Member. She is a State Skeet Champion, NRA certified rifle and shotgun instructor, and hunter. She has also coached a youth clay target program.
Prior to being elected to the Indiana House of Representatives, Peggy served as an Executive Board Member of the Association of Clerks of Circuit Courts of Indiana where she advocated for legislation to expand voter access through vote centers. Peggy was also appointed to several state commissions related to voter registration and the judiciary.

She has used her experience in local government and as a small business owner to eliminate wasteful government spending and improve government services.
